Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Industrial Spray Painter to join our manufacturing/engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, spraying, and finishing metal or industrial components to a high standard, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming
- Operate industrial spray equipment (e.g. airless, HVLP, or conventional spray guns)
- Apply coatings such as paint, powder, lacquer, or protective finishes to specifications
- Ensure finished products meet quality and appearance standards
- Inspect work for defects and carry out touch-ups where required
- Maintain spray equipment and ensure correct storage of paints and chemicals
- Follow health & safety procedures, including COSHH regulations
- Read and follow job sheets, drawings, and technical instructions
- Keep work areas clean, organised, and compliant with safety standards
- Work collaboratively with production and quality teams to meet deadlines
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as an industrial spray painter or similar role
- Knowledge of surface preparation and coating techniques
- Experience working with metal or industrial components
- Ability to work independently and to tight tolerances
- Good attention to detail and quality-focused mindset
- Understanding of UK health & safety standards and COSHH
- Ability to use hand tools and painting equipment safely
Qualifications (Desirable)
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Painting & Decorating, Vehicle Body Repair, or equivalent
- Forklift licence (FLT) – desirable but not essential
- Experience in manufacturing, engineering, or fabrication environments
