Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Deputy Manager to work in our small home from home setting, under the direction of the Manager and deputise for her as and when required.
Would strongly suit someone from a large(r) setting who is third in charge or a room leader and is looking for their next step up. __ Or__ an existing deputy looking for a new challenge and ready to put their ideas & initiative in practice to build this relatively new nursery and team
The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for early childhood education and working with children. Responsibilities
- Assist the Manager in supervising daily nursery operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and organisational policies.
- Support staff in delivering high-quality childcare and early childhood education programmes.
- Lead and motivate a team of childcare professionals, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Oversee the planning and implementation of educational activities suited to children’s developmental needs.
- Maintain effective communication with parents, staff, and external agencies regarding children's progress and welfare.
- Ensure health, safety, and hygiene standards are consistently upheld within the nursery setting.
- Assist in managing administrative tasks such as staff rotas, record keeping, and reporting requirements.
- Support staff training and professional development initiatives to enhance team skills and knowledge.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Proven management experience within a childcare or nursery setting.
- Strong leadership abilities with excellent organisational skills.
- Experience working directly with children, preferably within early childhood education or childcare environments.
- Knowledge of childcare regulations, health & safety standards, and safeguarding procedures.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team whilst demonstrating initiative.
- Valid driving licence is desirable for operational flexibility.
- Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent are preferred but not essential. Pay: From £14.15 per hour
Expected hours: 32.0 – 40.0 per week
