Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals in various settings, including assisted living, nursing homes, and home care environments. The role involves supporting clients with daily activities, ensuring their safety, and promoting independence. Previous experience in senior care, dementia care, or hospice care is highly desirable. Duties
- Assist clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Support with mobility and transfer activities, including heavy lifting when necessary
- Administer medication following prescribed guidelines and document accordingly
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements
- Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote mental and emotional well-being
- Manage behaviour effectively, especially in clients with dementia or Alzheimer's disease
- Provide companionship and emotional support to reduce feelings of loneliness or isolation
- Drive clients to appointments or outings as required
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any concerns to supervisors
- Follow health and safety protocols diligently, including first aid procedures when needed
Skills
- Experience in assisted living, nursing home environments, or home care settings
- Knowledge of patient care techniques, including medication administration and behaviour management
- Familiarity with dementia, Alzheimer's, hospice, and senior care practices
- Strong caregiving skills with a compassionate and patient demeanour
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and assist with mobility needs
- Excellent organisational skills for meal preparation and activity planning
- First aid certification is advantageous; willingness to undertake training if not already qualified
- Valid driving licence for transporting clients or running errands efficiently
- Good communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and team members
