We require a Customer Services Officer (Security) who can work independently and as part of a team. We are looking for someone with strong communication and customer service skills, vigilance, attention to detail, who can stay calm in challenging situations, and who is reliable and committed to building an exciting career in shopping centre operations.
PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS ROLE IS PREDOMINANTLY DAY SHIFT WORKING ALTHOUGH SOME NIGHT SHIFTS MAY BE REQUIRED ON OCCASION TO COVER HOLIDAYS/SICKNESS WITHIN THE TEAM
Purpose of the Role
To assist with the smooth running of the shopping centre and to assist with all emergency situations when they occur. This includes providing visible security to cover the centre, handling enquiries and customer concerns to the highest level of customer care, monitoring CCTV (by suitably trained and licenced staff), controlling contractors and deliveries to the centre, safeguarding centre property.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Carry out regular patrols of shopping malls, public areas, service areas, car park and the site generally ensuring security, safety and cleanliness of the premises and react to rubbish and spillages as necessary.
- Provide an initial point of contact for members of the public, tenants, staff and contractors and delivering high levels of customer service at all times.
- Maintain control of car parking in the service areas.
- Carry out regular fire and health and safety checks/inspections eg: plant rooms / vacant units etc noting any anomalies in the DOR
- Operate the control room and its equipment to include the fire system, radio networks and CCTV (where appropriate)
- Carry out locking and unlocking
- Carry out tenants fire alarm tests on a weekly basis.
- Liaise with tenants, police, fire, ambulance and Centre Management on matters of safety and security.
- Complete all necessary control room, incident and other paperwork as required.
- Ensure any keys from the control room are signed in and out and call out tenant keyholders in the event of an emergency, as necessary.
- Administer first aid only after completion of training.
- Carry out centre fire evacuation, bomb search, and evaluations as necessary, including lift rescue procedures (once trained)
- Carry out cleaning of the centre as per cleaning schedules ensuring all task sheets are completed by the end of the shift, including any additional tasks that have been identified.
- Ensure all safety checks are carried out on any machinery before use.
- Ensure machinery is used in a safe and proper manner in accordance with the training received.
- Uniform and PPR will be supplied for day and night shift and it is expected that officers are wearing the appropriate attire for their respective shifts.
- To be prepared to be flexible, particularly in an emergency to enable shifts to be fully manned.
- Ensuring delivery of security duties in accordance with the Site Assignment Instructions, legislative and industry standards.
- In order to comply with the Security Industry Act 2001, officers must hold a valid SIA Security Licence and where necessary a Public Space Surveillance Licence.
