The International Indirect Tax Manager will be responsible for VAT/GST compliance obligations across EMEAI and Asia ; analyse and implement new indirect tax legislation through development and implementation of internal policies and processes and analyse and develop processes to maximize EMEAI and Asia indirect tax saving opportunities and mitigate tax exposures.
Responsibilities

Responsible for indirect taxes compliance to ensure Air Canada follows EMEAI and Asia indirect tax laws and other indirect taxes legislation with regards to e-invoicing and digital reporting.

Manage tax authority enquiries relating to indirect tax compliance and support Director with indirect tax audits across EMEAI and Asia.

Identify and continuously improve indirect tax processes and internal controls.

Keep up to date on current changes in indirect taxes legislation, analyse impact on Air Canada operations, and communicate it to branch financial officers of business units.

Work in collaboration with the Director in implementing appropriate changes to ensure compliance with new legislation across indirect tax (including e-invoicing) and in developing indirect taxes awareness throughout the company, including the development and the delivery of associated seminars and training.

Proactively communicate and work with the Director regarding financial effects of key transactions, operations, new projects and legislative changes.

Work closely with colleagues within the IT group and other system stakeholders to ensure continuous collaboration with the Tax Department for any new system implementation and/or system modification.

Develop guidelines, training materials, job aids for Tax Department as required.

Assist the Director with all other related tasks.
Qualifications
-
Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting preferred.

Completion of Indirect Taxes courses/ Tax degree.
-
Minimum 7 years of experience in the indirect tax field. Experience in the transportation industry is an asset.

Significant experience handling international VAT compliance, including interpreting and analyzing tax legislation to prepare for future legislative changes.

Significant and detailed knowledge of other international indirect tax legislation (e.g. GST, SUT) is an asset.

Knowledge of airlines passenger’s taxes is an asset.

Experience with systems implementation is an asset.

Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to be a team player.

Strong analytical skills combined with a demonstrated ability to handle multiple files.

Must have the ability to work in the United Kingdom without restriction.
