Are you an experienced embedded engineer ready to take ownership of firmware platforms that keep critical water infrastructure connected and intelligent? Then join us in our mission to pioneer smarter solutions for moving and transforming water, reducing energy consumption, and enhancing quality of life for people.
As our new Senior Product Development Engineer, you will be developing firmware and software on bespoke RTOS and Linux-based hardware platforms, architecting solutions that connect sensors and telemetry units to cloud technologies for the water utility industry. You'll be part of a diverse, supportive and inclusive culture, that celebrates our differences and puts people first by fostering growth, well-being, and a sense of belonging.
What you will be doing:
As a key part of the Devices Development team, you'll create impact by Delivering reliable, secure embedded solutions that enable water utilities to monitor and manage critical infrastructure through real-time data collection and connectivity.
Your main responsibilities include:
-
Architect, develop, and maintain firmware codebases on RTOS and Linux platforms, ensuring reliable data collection from sensors and telemetry units to cloud/server systems
-
Drive automated testing methodologies and CI pipelines to improve release quality and reduce manual verification effort
-
Mentor less experienced engineers, conduct code reviews, and raise awareness of best practices including cyber security
-
Break down high-level requirements into measurable tasks and lead development activities from New Product Introduction through to quality-assured releases
-
Resolve escalated customer issues across the full system stack — sensor, telemetry, communications, and software — and contribute to customer documentation and training
What makes you a great fit
Above all, you are a hands-on embedded engineer with deep C/C++ expertise, strong ownership mentality, and the ability to lead technical initiatives while mentoring others in a collaborative team environment. We would also imagine that you have:
-
Degree, HNC, or HND in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline with 5+ years of C/C++ embedded development experience
-
Detailed knowledge of embedded systems, RTOS, TCP/IP networking, and serial communications (e.g. RS-485)
-
Working knowledge of electronics and systems integration including microcontrollers, ADCs, power supplies, and transceivers
-
Understanding of cyber security principles for embedded platforms and experience with continuous integration and build systems
It is a plus if you also have:
-
Experience with Linux-based embedded development and/or desktop application development (e.g. C# WPF) or cloud computing
-
Knowledge of industrial PLCs and protocols such as Modbus or DF1
-
Experience using agile methodologies and ticketing systems such as Jira
