Are you passionate about supporting children to overcome barriers to learning? Do you have experience working with young people who display challenging behaviour, or do you have transferable skills from psychology, youth work, social care, or mentoring?
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Watford area is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join their team from September. Due to an increasing need for behavioural and emotional support within Key Stage 2, the school is looking for a calm, resilient, and nurturing individual who can build positive relationships and help pupils thrive both academically and emotionally.
This mainstream primary school has a diverse community with a high proportion of EAL and SEN pupils. The school is committed to ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background or the challenges they face, and is looking for someone who shares this ethos.
The Role
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:
- Support pupils in Key Stage 2 who present with behavioural, emotional or social needs.
- Work on a 1:1 basis and with small intervention groups to promote positive behaviour and engagement.
- Build trusting relationships that encourage confidence, resilience and emotional regulation.
- Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral staff to implement behaviour support strategies.
- Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued.
The Ideal Candidate:
We welcome applications from candidates who:
- Have experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour.
- Hold a Psychology degree or have experience in youth work, social care, mentoring, coaching or similar roles.
- Are patient, empathetic and able to remain calm under pressure.
- Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Are passionate about making a positive difference in children's lives.
Previous school experience is desirable but not essential, as transferable skills and relevant experience will also be considered.
