Project Manager

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join a forward-thinking public sector organisation during a period of significant organisational change. You will play a key role in delivering high-profile transformation programmes, corporate initiatives, and strategic projects that will shape future service delivery.
Working closely with senior leadership, you will be responsible for planning, managing and delivering a portfolio of complex projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and in line with organisational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of multiple transformation and corporate projects from initiation through to completion.
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines and governance frameworks.
- Monitor project performance, budgets, risks and milestones, ensuring successful delivery.
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, external partners, contractors and suppliers.
- Prepare reports, updates and recommendations for senior management and governance boards.
- Identify opportunities for service improvement and support the delivery of organisational change.
- Lead project teams and coordinate resources across multiple departments.
- Use performance data and insight to inform project planning and decision-making.
- Ensure effective project governance, risk management and quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support wider strategic priorities through collaborative working and continuous improvement.
About You
We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Previous experience managing complex projects within a large organisation.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and best practice.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work alongside senior leaders and external partners.
- Experience managing project budgets, timelines and risks.
- The ability to influence, negotiate and build effective working relationships.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive decision-making.
- A proactive approach with excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
Essential Requirements
- Degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in a relevant discipline (or significant equivalent experience).
- Proven experience successfully delivering complex projects.
- Strong understanding of governance, performance management and organisational change.
- Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
Desirable
- PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent project management qualification.
- Experience working within the public sector or local government.
- Membership of a relevant professional body.
- Experience leading large-scale transformation or organisational change programmes.
