The post holder will act as a dedicated specialist in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) across all sites in the region they work. The post holder will be responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic MRI examinations, ensuring rigorous safety protocols are enforced, and delivering compassionate, patient-centred care.
Alongside maintaining high standards of clinical practice, the post holder will manage daily MRI workflows, conduct safety screenings, oversee image quality assurance, and contribute to continuous service improvement.
The post holder must adhere to the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Society of Radiographers Code of Professional Conduct and be actively involved in continued professional development.
Clinical Excellence & MRI Safety
- Clinical Practice: Act as an autonomous practitioner, undertaking a wide range of specialised MRI procedures while delivering patient care of the highest standard.
- Safety Screening: Perform strict pre-scan safety screening for patients, staff, and visitors entering the MRI environment, ensuring adherence to static magnetic field safety protocols.
- Vetting & Protocols: Justify and vet clinical referrals against departmental protocols, selecting appropriate scanning sequences and optimising image quality while minimising scan times.
- IV Administration: Perform IV cannulation and safely administer contrast media and medication in accordance with local Patient Group Directions (PGDs) and clinical training.
