A brand new role at East Grinstead Sports Club — help us bring bar service up to the same standard as everything else we’re building.
Over the past three years we have transformed one of the South East’s most active community sports venues. Our kitchen is undergoing a full refit and stepping up a gear, and we now need the same step-change behind the bar. Our bar is already busy — but it has never had dedicated management — and food service in our main lounge, a sports club bistro rather than a formal restaurant, is growing gradually beyond evenings into lunchtimes and other times of day.
We are looking for an experienced Bar & FOH Manager to take ownership of all bar service on site — the larger part of this role — delivering and building on staff training modules that already exist, with a smaller and growing Front of House responsibility in the lounge.
What you will be doing
- Taking full ownership of all bar service across the site, to impeccable standards.
- Delivering and building on staff training modules already developed for the bar, including product knowledge and allergens.
- Taking on a smaller, growing Front of House role in our main lounge as food service develops.
- Assisting with F&B events bookings, with scope for this to grow into a bigger part of the role over time.
- Managing stock control, ordering and pricing across the bar.
- Ensuring full licensing compliance, including beer line cleaning, cellar management and responsible service of alcohol.
What we are looking for
- Solid experience managing a bar, ideally in a club, pub, hospitality or leisure setting.
- A strong understanding of licensing law, stock control and pricing.
- Experience training and developing staff, including on product knowledge and allergens.
- A genuinely hands-on leader — happy to work behind the bar, wash up or change a barrel when needed. Our Directors do exactly that, and we expect the same from this role.
- Full flexibility, including evenings and weekends.
Why join us?
- A genuinely exciting time to join — the club is growing fast and there is real opportunity to shape this role from scratch.
- A newly created position with real scope to make it your own.
- A varied and interesting role spanning bar, Front of House and training.
- A friendly, committed team who care about what they do and where they work.
- A community venue with a real sense of purpose — everything we do goes back into making the club better.
- A full-time, permanent role with a clear and valued place in the club from day one.
