Cook / Catering Assistant (Part-Time)
Location: Parkgate, Rotherham
We are looking to recruit a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Cook / Catering Assistant to join our busy and growing team in our café at Parkgate, Rotherham.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in delivering excellent customer service and has a passion for food and hospitality.
About the Role
You will be working as part of a hardworking team, preparing, cooking and serving a range of breakfast, lunch and Sunday dinner dishes whilst ensuring high standards of cleanliness, food quality and food safety are maintained at all times.
The successful candidate must be confident preparing and cooking food in a busy café environment and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
This position operates on a two-week rolling rota:
Week 1
- Tuesday
- Friday
- Saturday
- Sunday
Week 2
This averages 3.5 days per week over the two-week rota cycle.
You may also be required to work a reasonable amount of overtime to cover holidays, absence and busy periods, depending on the needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and cooking food to a high standard
- Preparing and presenting meals in line with company standards
- Assisting with menu preparation and food service
- Serving customers in a friendly and professional manner
- Preparing hot drinks, speciality teas and coffees
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene and food safety standards
- Keeping work areas clean, tidy and organised
- Supporting the team with clearing and replenishing food and beverage stations
- Monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages to management
- Delivering customer orders when required
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience cooking in a café, restaurant, catering or similar environment
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- A reliable and flexible approach to work
- The ability to work efficiently in a busy environment
- Knowledge of food hygiene and food safety standards
- The ability to work confidently under pressure and maintain high standards
