Zazu's Pub Co. is looking for an experienced chef to join their team at the Greenbank pub in Easton.
The Greenbank is a bustling community pub in the heart of Easton, serving a varied menu of elevated pub grub, pizzas and small plates as well as a regular rotation of seasonal specials. We are well known in the area for our quality menu, locally produced drinks and welcoming, friendly atmosphere.
The Greenbank boasts an upstairs function room which hosts a variety of public and private events, as well as a gallery of art from local artists and regular live music. We're looking for a new member of the team to jump into busy service and join our family!
We require candidates to have a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar level position working with fresh food, the ability to work on your own initiative, to maintain company standards and manage a kitchen team well. This is a good opportunity for a strong sous chef looking for a new challenge!
This is a fantastic opportunity for a head chef to really put their stamp on the kitchen and the team, as we will be saying goodbye to several of our junior team as they leave for university.
Job Requirements
- Demonstrate excellent kitchen and communication skills, with a strong attention to detail
- Work with a small team with the desire to motivate, teach and support progression. Promoting good working relationships between team members to create a happy working environment
- Confidence in interviewing and hiring and training all new kitchen staff as required
- A real passion for fresh food and proven ability to cook modern, seasonal pub food is essential. Inspiration to add new and current dishes to the menu in line with the pub’s style
- A good knowledge of seasonal produce is desired, creativity to create daily/weekly specials. Understanding the customers needs and being able to adapt with trends
- Building on current trade levels whilst maintaining company standards and expectations will be required
- Maintaining food GPs across all aspects of the food side of the business is essential. Managing staffing costs, experience in writing rotas, aiming to achieve the weekly KPIs
Health and Safety
- Understanding and proven experience in managing all levels of H&S compliance within a kitchen. (Training will be provided on the use of our system). Confidence to lead by example and train staff to follow all health and safety requirements
- Level 3 Food Safety certificate desired but not essential, we offer training. Good office and admin organisational skills would be an added bonus!

This role is offered on a full-time contract at 45 hours per week.
Pay package is dependant on experience, with total package of up to £43,000 including bonus:
£35,000-£38,000 basic (dependant on experience)
£6,000 bonus based on achievable KPIs (payable every 6mos)
+ tips (tronc)
