Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Dessert Artisan and Shift Supervisor to oversee our daily kitchen operations and front-of-house service. The successful candidate will possess hands-on expertise in preparing and beautifully presenting a diverse dessert menu under high-volume conditions, while maintaining meticulous quality control.
Duties
- Lead the creation and refinement of a diverse range of desserts, including pastries, confections, and specialty treats.
- Efficiently prepare, bake, and artfully plate a premium menu including freshly made waffles, cookie dough, crepes, soufflés, doughnuts, pan cakes, and signature milkshakes.
- Safely operate, calibrate, and thoroughly clean specialized commercial equipment (including commercial waffle irons, high-speed ovens, and high-performance blenders).
- Strict adherence to established recipes, visual presentation guidelines, and portion controls to ensure consistency and minimize food waste.
- Maintain impeccable food safety standards, including temperature monitoring, allergen management, and comprehensive daily cleaning logs (HACCP compliant).
- Assist ownership with inventory counts, shelf-life rotation (FIFO), and identifying restocking needs.
- Oversee all stages of dessert preparation, from ingredient selection and food production to final presentation.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new dessert menus that excite and delight guests.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety standards and sanitation protocols across all dessert stations.
- Train and mentor junior pastry staff, fostering skill development and ensuring consistency in quality.
- Manage inventory levels for dessert ingredients, minimizing waste while ensuring availability of fresh supplies.
- Ensure all desserts meet brand standards for taste, appearance, and freshness before service.
Requirements
- Proven experience in food production, food preparation, cooking, or baking within a professional kitchen environment.
- Strong culinary background with expertise in pastry arts and dessert techniques.
- Extensive kitchen experience with a focus on dessert creation in restaurant or hospitality settings.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food handling and sanitation.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to guide a team effectively under pressure.
- Excellent attention to detail with an eye for presentation and consistency.
- Passion for innovation in dessert crafting and a desire to push culinary boundaries.
