We're now looking for an Accounts Apprentice to join our friendly, supportive finance team at our head office in Deeside.
About the Role
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to start or continue a career in accounts and finance, with hands-on experience across payroll and finance processes from day one. You'll work closely with an experienced team who will support your learning both on the job and towards your qualification which is provided by our education partner, Coleg Cambria.
Key responsibilities include:
Payroll Support
- Reconciling employee timesheets against rotas and payroll records
- Checking timesheet data for accuracy and flagging discrepancies
- Assisting with the preparation and processing of payroll runs
- Supporting with payroll queries from employees
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date payroll records
Debtor Collections & Client Account Management
- Monitoring client accounts and identifying overdue balances
- Chasing outstanding payments via phone, email, and letter in a professional manner
- Accurately allocating payments received against client accounts
- Maintaining up-to-date and accurate records of debtor accounts
- Producing regular reports on outstanding debt for the finance team
Client Query Resolution
- Acting as a point of contact for client queries relating to invoices, statements, and payments
- Investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely and professional manner
- Liaising with internal teams (e.g. care coordination, administration) to gather information needed to resolve queries
- Keeping clients updated throughout the query resolution process
General Finance Support
- Assisting with reconciliations, data entry, and basic reporting
- Filing and maintaining accurate financial records
- Supporting the wider finance team with ad hoc tasks and projects
- Helping to maintain compliance with financial procedures and controls
About You
We welcome applications from:
- Candidates already studying towards any level of AAT, or
- Candidates who haven't yet started an AAT qualification but are keen to begin one
What We're Looking For
Essential
- A real ambition to build a long-term career
- A keen eye for detail and a high level of accuracy in your work
- Confident using Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- Able to prioritise tasks and consistently meet deadlines
- Clear, confident communication skills, both written and verbal
- UK resident
Desirable
- Previous experience working within a small or medium-sized business
- Exposure to accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks
- A foundational understanding of bookkeeping principles
