Job Title: Youth Engagement Lead
Location: Groundwork North Wales Offices, Wrexham (with delivery across Wrexham, Flintshire and Denbighshire)
Responsible to: Community Learning Manager
Number of hours per week: Up to 37.5 hours per week (flexible evening and occasional weekend working required)
Salary: £27,500 (FTE)
Groundwork North Wales are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Youth Engagement Lead to support the delivery of environmental and conservation volunteering opportunities for young people across North East Wales.
This role will work with the Reserves Team to support volunteers who are younger and also those of all ages who are neurodivergent or living with mental health challenges, such as anxiety, depression, low confidence, or social isolation, which can make joining a volunteer group feel overwhelming. The purpose of the role is to provide tailored, one‑to‑one support to help volunteers move from initial induction into fully taking part in our group volunteering sessions across our Wrexham, Flintshire, and Denbighshire nature reserves.
Working with a range of partners the Youth Engagement Lead will create inclusive pathways that enable young people and adults to engage in volunteering and learning opportunities within the Groundwork North Wales Group.
What We're Looking For
A qualified Youth Worker (minimum Level 3) with experience of engaging young people and adults facing barriers to participation, learning or employment. You'll have experience of working with young people in the community - either in youth work or informal education settings as well a strong person-centred approach to supporting individual development and progression.
This role will involve regular delivery in outdoor environments and community venues throughout Wrexham, Flintshire and Denbighshire.
Expected duties daily will vary within:
- Recruit, engage and support young volunteers and adult learners to participate in environmental, community and skills development programmes.
- Build positive relationships with participants, providing guidance, mentoring and progression support into volunteering, training, education and employment.
- Deliver inclusive and accessible opportunities that support individuals facing social, economic or personal barriers.
- Develop and maintain effective partnerships with community organisations, referral agencies and stakeholders to increase engagement and participation.
- Promote Groundwork North Wales youth, volunteering and community learning programmes through networking, events and community outreach.
- Monitor participant progress and project outcomes, maintaining accurate records and contributing to funding and performance reports.
- Ensure all activities are delivered safely and professionally, in line with safeguarding, health and safety, equality and data protection requirements, while supporting wider organisational projects and events as needed.
