Job Summary
We are seeking Construction Plant Fitters to join our busy team. The successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and assembling a wide range of construction equipment, including excavators and forklifts. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, electrical knowledge, and experience with various hand and power tools. The ideal applicant will be proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all plant machinery on-site. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills within a dynamic construction environment. Hourly rate range £16.00 - £19.00 per hour, overtime rate after 40 hours at 1.5. Company van provided.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on construction plant machinery such as excavators, forklifts, and other heavy equipment
- Diagnose faults using schematics and electrical diagrams to identify issues accurately
- Repair or replace mechanical components, electrical systems, and hydraulic parts to ensure optimal functionality
- Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment for equipment repair and maintenance tasks
- Read and interpret schematics to facilitate accurate repairs and modifications
- Assist in the assembly of new equipment or parts as required
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts used
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and company standards
Skills
- Previous experience in a plant fitter role
- Strong knowledge of schematics and technical diagrams for troubleshooting purposes
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment used in plant maintenance
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in accordance with health & safety guidelines
- Experience working with construction machinery such as excavators and forklifts is highly desirable
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
- Good customer service skills when liaising with site personnel or clients regarding repairs or maintenance issues
- Mechanical knowledge combined with practical experience in equipment assembly and repair
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Plant, HGV or Agricultural Machinery Maintenance an advantage
