Vacancies have become available for Laundry Operatives. These posts will be full time and part time. Hours between 7am to 4pm Monday to Thursday and Friday 7am to 12 noon.
Responsible for processing garments throughout the laundry.
Reporting to Team Leader/ Production Supervisor and Operations Manager
Job purpose to carry out various tasks in an industrial laundry environment including sorting, washing and packing of garments and other products such as mats and towels in our Production Department at Weir Street Lincoln LN5 8DT
Skills, experience and knowledge
The role involves processing garments, mats and towels work in the 6 production areas. The suitable candidate would preferably have some previous experience of working in a laundry, similar industry or factory environment, in particular experience of operating or working with large machinery or be prepared to learn.
The candidate will be able to follow instructions and work under supervision, as well as work alongside colleagues as part of a team in all areas of production as required. They will have good communication skills, both written and verbal and if required be able to manage some paperwork, or basic IT skills for example scanning products. It is essential that they are physically fit as some heavy lifting will be required and have the physical stamina to stand for long periods, bending and lifting heavy items regularly. They will be punctual, self-motivated and enthusiastic.
The Role and Responsibilities include:
The role involves working with the range of different machinery involved in the washing and drying of workwear garments, mats and towels, safely and efficiently and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as well performing manual tasks such as sorting garments, loading and unloading washing machines, hanging up garments, folding and packing garments, towels and or mats, and labelling. You would also have excellent attention to detail to maintain a high-quality process.
It is essential to the role that you can work in a fast paced and noisy environment, as well as work at pace to ensure machines are working at optimal levels; work as part of a team to ensure that production targets and deadlines are met and communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow. They will be able to follow instructions and work under supervision whilst following procedures and adhere to safety guidelines. To be compliant with Health and Safety regulations you must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Clothing (PPE), and make sure that Health and Safety protocols are adhered to at all times by yourself and others.
