Job Summary
We are looking for a Chagossian Support Worker on a 2-year fixed-term contract.
Crawley Open House is a well-established local charity providing a twenty-four-bed hostel and a busy drop-in Resource Centre. Both provisions are designed to offer a high level of support to clients who are homeless and disadvantaged. We also have move on houses within the town and an outreach team to assist rough sleepers seeking help.
Duties
- To provide person-centred and culturally competent support to members of the Chagossian community who are currently rough sleeping, accessing our Resource Centre, or residing in one of our internal projects.
- To work in conjunction with our existing Hostel, Advice, Resettlement, Health and Outreach Teams to improve outcomes and repeat homelessness by helping to identify and meet a range of social, health, and housing needs.
- To contribute to a culture of excellence that puts Crawley Open House’s core values – caring, honesty, respect and responsibility – at the centre of all we do, whilst continually improving and developing our service.
- Helping to translate for our Mauritian Creole-speaking clients when engaging with services and other agencies
