Are you looking for part-time hours that fit around your life, without compromising on the quality of the work you do?
Seasons Nursery has two locations, one is nestled at the heart of Great Ballard School, set within 30 acres of stunning South Downs National Park countryside near Chichester. The other based at Aldingbourne Country Centre near Chichester. Our nurseries bring together beautiful indoor learning spaces, a dedicated forest school area and the wider site grounds, all shaped by a Reggio/Montessori-inspired, child-led philosophy. We are a small, warm and nurturing setting and we are looking for someone who shares those values to join us at lunchtime.
Come and Play
Lunchtime is one of the most important and nurturing parts of the nursery day. As our Lunch Cover Practitioner, you will help ensure that mealtimes are calm, sociable and enjoyable for children, and that the room continues to run smoothly while senior staff take their breaks. You will become a familiar and trusted face to the children and the team.
Your Day to Day
- Supervising and supporting children during lunchtime, encouraging independence, positive eating habits and social interaction
- Assisting children with meals in line with individual dietary requirements, allergy information and care plans
- Creating a calm, warm atmosphere at mealtimes, sitting with children and engaging them in conversation
- Supporting children with toileting, handwashing and hygiene routines around lunchtime
- Covering for senior practitioners during their breaks and maintaining appropriate ratios at all times
- Following all nursery routines, policies and procedures including safeguarding and behaviour guidance
- Reporting any concerns about a child's wellbeing or welfare to the room lead or manager promptly
This is not an exhaustive list. At Seasons we are a small, passionate team and there will always be opportunities to get involved and contribute as the nursery grows.
You Will Bring
- Experience working with young children in a nursery, school or childcare setting
- A warm, patient and nurturing approach, particularly at mealtimes and during transitions
- A clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and a commitment to children's welfare
- Reliable, punctual and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues
- A relevant childcare qualification at Level 2 or above is essential. A Level 3 qualification is desirable
