HGV Class 1 Container Driver – LTD Contractor
Seby Transport Ltd is looking for a reliable and professional HGV Class 1 driver for container transport from the Port of Southampton.
This is a self-employed position for drivers operating through their own active LTD company. Regular and ongoing work is available for the right person.
Pay and working pattern
- £190 per standard working day
- £220 for longer-distance work requiring an overnight stay in the truck
- Working hours vary depending on the route, port waiting times, traffic and customer requirements
- Some working days may finish within approximately 7 to 10 hours
- Other days may be longer depending on operational requirements
- Longer working days are not expected every day
- Overnight work is occasional and mainly applies to longer-distance deliveries
- All work must be completed in accordance with drivers’ hours, tachograph, break and daily rest requirements
Main responsibilities
- Transporting containers from the Port of Southampton
- Completing daily vehicle and trailer safety checks
- Collecting and delivering containers safely and on time
- Checking that container twist locks are correctly secured before travelling
- Completing delivery paperwork accurately
- Communicating clearly with the transport office
- Reporting vehicle, trailer or container defects immediately
- Following port, customer and company procedures
- Keeping the vehicle clean and presentable
Requirements
- Valid UK Category C+E driving licence
- Valid Driver CPC
- Valid digital tachograph card
- Legal right to work in the United Kingdom
- Own active LTD company
- Previous HGV Class 1 driving experience
- Good understanding of drivers’ hours and tachograph rules
- Reliable, punctual and responsible
- Container transport experience is preferred but not essential
- DP World Southampton port card is an advantage but is not essential
About the role
The work mainly involves container deliveries from Southampton. Start and finish times vary according to the daily route, port bookings, customer requirements, traffic and waiting times.
The role is suitable for a responsible and flexible driver who understands that container transport does not always have fixed finishing times.
Regular work is available, with direct communication with the company director and a professional working environment.
