Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Temporary Stone CAD Draughtsperson to join our design team. In this role, you will be responsible to produce accurate, high-quality working drawings, fabrication drawings and manufacturing information for natural stone projects, ensuring designs are coordinated, technically compliant and suitable for client approval, manufacture and installation.
The role involves developing the Architect's and Interior Designer's design intent into practical, buildable stone solutions whilst working closely with the commercial, production and site teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed working drawings from Architects' and Interior Designers' design intent, developing concepts into coordinated, buildable and manufacturable stone solutions.
- Interpret architectural and interior design drawings, specifications and project requirements.
- Produce working, fabrication, setting out and installation drawings using AutoCAD.
- Coordinate stone layouts with architects, designers and project teams.
- Produce stone visuals and rendered images to illustrate material selections, layouts and design intent for client review and approval.
- Minimise material waste through efficient stone optimisation.
- Prepare drawings incorporating stone finishes, patterns, textures and material palettes.
- Produce detailed drawings for flooring, wall cladding, staircases, bathrooms, vanity units, kitchens, reception desks, fireplaces, furniture and external stonework etc.
- Incorporate site survey information into fabrication drawings.
- Coordinate joint layouts, movement joints, edge profiles and fixing details.
- Revise and issue drawings following client comments, design development and site changes.
- Liaise with factory personnel regarding production requirements and provide technical support during manufacture and installation.
- Attend design meetings and assist with resolving technical queries.
- Identify design clashes, coordination issues and buildability concerns.
- Maintain drawing registers and revision control.
- Deliver drawings in accordance with project programmes.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- AutoCAD experience.
- Experience producing working and manufacturing drawings.
- Good understanding of construction drawings.
- Ability to interpret architectural and interior design drawings.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple live projects.
Desirable
- Experience within the natural stone industry.
- Knowledge of marble, limestone, granite and quartzite.
- Understanding of stone fixing systems.
- Site measurement experience.
