Overview
Central Direct Group is recruiting on behalf of an established precision engineering company based in the CV9 area for an experienced CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator.
We are looking for an experienced CNC machinist with strong Heidenhain knowledge who is confident programming from scratch, setting and operating CNC milling machines.
The company carries out a varied range of precision engineering work, producing components of different sizes and specifications. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity working 39 hours across Monday to Thursday, with overtime available on Fridays.
Duties
- Program CNC milling machines from scratch using Heidenhain controls
- Set and operate CNC milling machines
- Read and interpret engineering drawings
- Set tooling, offsets and machining parameters
- Produce components accurately to required specifications and tolerances
- Check completed components to ensure required quality standards are achieved
- Make appropriate adjustments during machining where required
- Identify and resolve machining or programming issues
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and safety
Experience
The successful candidate should have:
- Previous experience as a CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator
- Strong working knowledge of Heidenhain controls
- Experience programming CNC milling machines from scratch
- Ability to program directly at the machine/control
- Experience setting and operating CNC milling machines
- Experience machining large components is advantageous
- Experience using Fusion 360 and/or OneCNC would be advantageous
- Experience working within a precision engineering environment
- Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings
- Good understanding of machining processes, tooling and tolerances
- Ability to work independently and produce components to specification
Hours
39 hours per week, Monday to Thursday
- Monday to Wednesday: 10-hour days — 6:00am–4:00pm or 7:00am–5:00pm
- Thursday: 9-hour day — 6:00am–3:00pm or 7:00am–4:00pm
- Friday: Overtime available
- Weekends: Not part of the normal working week
Pay
£19.00–£24.00 per hour, depending on experience.
£40,000 – £48,500 per year, depending on experience.
