Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and personable Manager to oversee daily operations within a busy cafe kitchen, for an exciting new project launching this summer!
The ideal candidate will possess great cooking and people management skills, with a passion for delivering friendly service that will bring customers back time and time again. This role will involve supervision of a small team of staff, ensuring food safety standards are met, and maintaining a high standard of food quality.
As the Manager of this new project you will work closely on a day to day basis with an experienced owner, to launch and develop this exciting new venture, and share in it's success with regular bonuses and profit share schemes.
This role has fixed hours Monday to Friday 5:30am to 2:30pm with an hour for lunch, so if you're looking for a better work/life balance and want to work somewhere close to home, with family friendly daytime hours and your weekends and evenings free, this could be the perfect role for you.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of all kitchen staff, including cooks, servers, and the morning prep team ensuring smooth daily operations
- Oversee food preparation and cooking processes to maintain quality standards and consistency
- Manage staff schedules, delegate tasks effectively, and monitor performance to optimise productivity
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and health & safety standards across all areas of the establishment
- Assist in menu planning, ingredient sourcing, and stock management to minimise waste and control costs
- Handle customer enquiries or complaints professionally, ensuring a positive dining experience
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to maintain quality supplies and manage procurement efficiently
Requirements
- Proven supervising experience within a food production or hospitality environment
- Extensive background in food preparation and cooking with a strong understanding of kitchen operations
- Demonstrable leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in restaurant or catering settings
- Experience in cafe or kitchen management or hospitality roles is highly desirable
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently under pressure
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with staff, suppliers, and customers
- Previous experience in serving or front-of-house roles is advantageous but not essential
