Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Cook/Chef to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality brunch / lunch menu and ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with a passion for food, to join a small team at a new independent café. We are building our reputation on excellent coffee and food. A commitment to making sure every plate sent out is worth the good food rep, is so important. Experience and food safety cert are essential to succeed in this position.
Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to recipes and quality standards.
- Oversee food production processes to ensure consistency and presentation standards are met.
- Manage food safety protocols, including hygiene standards and proper storage procedures
- Assist in menu planning and ingredient selection to optimise quality and cost-efficiency
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure timely serving of meals
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen environment at all times
- Monitor stock levels and place orders as necessary to ensure uninterrupted service
- Lead by example in delivering excellent customer service during serving hours
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen operations
- Supervising experience within a hospitality or restaurant setting
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to manage a team effectively
- Excellent knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in food presentation and hygiene standards
- Familiarity with food production processes and culinary techniques
- Experience in restaurant / café service, including serving customers when required.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and front-of-house staff

This role could become full time for the right candidate.
Usual hours will be between 7:30am-2:30pm, days to be discussed.
Occasional evening shift for events.
Pay: £13.50 per hour
