We are looking for caring, resilient and committed Night Wake Residential Support Workers to join our specialist Solo Placement Bungalows in Sutton Coldfield.
This is an opportunity to work within a dedicated service supporting young people with complex emotional, behavioural and mental health needs. Our aim is to provide safe, nurturing environments where young people feel secure throughout the night, enabling them to thrive and achieve positive outcomes.
As a Night Wake Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing and emotional reassurance of young people during the night. You will provide a calm and consistent presence, responding appropriately to any incidents or support needs that arise while maintaining a safe and welcoming home environment.
No two nights are ever the same. While there are quieter periods, you must remain alert and prepared to respond to emergencies, support young people who may be distressed or unable to sleep, and ensure the home remains safe and secure at all times.

About the Role
As a Night Wake Residential Support Worker, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, wellbeing and security of the home throughout the night.
Working as part of the wider care team, you will provide reassurance to young people when needed, complete regular welfare checks and maintain a calm, structured environment that promotes restful sleep.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Completing regular welfare checks and observations in line with care plans.
- Responding appropriately to incidents, emergencies or safeguarding concerns during the night.
- Providing emotional reassurance and support to young people who are anxious, distressed or unable to sleep.
- Maintaining the safety and security of the home, including completing security checks.
- Recording detailed, accurate and professional handover notes and incident reports.
- Administering medication where trained and required.
- Completing domestic duties to ensure the home is clean, safe and ready for the day staff.
- Preparing accurate handovers for the incoming day team.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure continuity of care.
- Promoting a calm, therapeutic environment that meets the individual needs of each young person.
- Following safeguarding procedures, policies and risk assessments at all times.

Residential childcare can be one of the most rewarding careers, but it can also be one of the most challenging.
The young people we support have often experienced significant trauma and may present with complex emotional, behavioural and mental health needs. During the night, young people may become distressed, experience anxiety, have difficulty sleeping or require emotional support.
As part of your role, you may be required to respond to safeguarding concerns, manage challenging situations, utilise approved physical intervention techniques where necessary and support young people through periods of crisis while maintaining a calm, professional and therapeutic approach.

Essential Requirements
- Applicants must be aged 22 or over in line with Ofsted regulations
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
Desirable Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Experience working with children and young people
- Experience within residential childcare, education, youth work, supported accommodation, mental health services or related sectors
