Buyer (Manufacturing)
Due to continued growth, our client a leading employer in the local area is currently looking to recruit a Buyer to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to join a hugely successful business and join a busy procurement team.
The Role
- Manage supplier relationships and identify opportunities to reduce cost for purchasing requirements for the business
- Ensuring procurement processes align with company quality, cost and delivery objectives
- Analyse market trends to identify opportunities and risks within categories
- Developing strategies for sourcing, supplier management, negotiation and supplier relationships
- Negotiate prices, terms and lead times with suppliers to achieve best possible results that meet company needs
- Monitor supplier performance whilst addressing and resolving any reoccurring issues as quickly and efficiently as possible
- Continually challenge and improve upon current practices and procedures
- Manage and maintain stock levels and investigate any issues that may arise
- Support and implement category and commodity strategy
Essential Criteria
- A minimum of 3 years (+) experience in a procurement / purchasing role
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to plan and prioritise workload
- Ability to work both on your own and as part of a team
- Committed and motivated
- A positive can-do attitude
