Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Artisan Baker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bakery production and preparation, with a particular emphasis on artisan bakery techniques. As an Artisan Baker, you will play a pivotal role aiding our Head Baker in creating high-quality baked goods that reflect our commitment to excellence and innovation in the baking industry. This position requires creativity, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of food safety practices.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake a variety of breads & baked goods according to established recipes and standards.
- Ensure all preparation areas are maintained in accordance with food safety regulations.
- Collaborate with the senior bakery team to develop new products and improve existing recipes.
- In the absence of the Head Baker, monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bakehouse, including equipment and utensils.
- Assist in training the junior bakery team on new products and food safety practices.
- Participate in quality control measures to ensure consistency and presentation of all baked goods.
Requirements
- Proven experience in an artisan baker role within a a retail artisan bakehouse or similar food production environment.
- Strong knowledge of bakery preparation techniques, including dough shaping, proving, and presentation of products before the bake.
- Familiarity with food safety standards and best practices for bakery hygiene.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail.
- A passion for artisan baking and a desire to innovate within the bakehouse.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as required by the business needs.
