We are seeking an all round cook to join our motivated and hard working, friendly team to provide homemade cooking for 15 residents in a small residential home.
Job Description:
Successful applicant will be required to prepare and cook home style meals from scratch for 15 residents, following established recipes and menus. They will be required to work independently and manage their time appropriately, prioritising their work load accordingly. They must be able to operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. The successful candidate will also be responsible for cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment, utensils, and appliances, and ensure the kitchen is clean and sanitized at all times.
Experience:
We are not looking for a Michelin Star Chef, but the ideal candidate must have proven experience in home cooking, preferably in a similar setting. They must have good knowledge of cooking techniques and recipes, and must have the ability to work independently. As we are only a small home, candidates must be aware that they will be working on their own, without any kitchen hands to assist them. It can get busy at times, that is why good time management and organisation skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook a variety of home style meals following established recipes and menus.
Ensure all meals are nutritious, well balanced, and meet the dietary requirements of residents, including low sodium, diabetic friendly and soft textured diets.
Maintain a clean, organised and sanitary kitchen environment, adhering to all food safety and hygiene regulations.
Serve meals in a timely manner, ensuring they are presented tastefully.
Qualifications/Experience:
Relevant qualification in food/preparation cooking
Level 2 in Health & Safety and Food Hygiene desirable but training will be given if not yet acquired.
Proven experience as a cook
Sound knowledge of cooking methods and techniques
Knowledge of inventory management techniques to minimise waste.
Excellent organisational and communication.

Job Types: Part Time, Permanent
Part Time hours: 3 shifts per week (0900-1400) with options of more shifts covering holidays. The successful candidate will be required to work alternate weekends.
