MACHINE OPERATIVE (BD3)
Location: Thornbury, Bradford, BD3 7AF
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 2:30pm
Pay: Starting at £12.80 per hour, negotiable depending on experience
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Start date: ASAP
ABOUT WOODLANDS
Woodlands Home & Garden Group is a well-established British manufacturer employing around 300 people across our sites in Rodley, Leeds (LS13), Bradford (BD3), Horsforth (LS18), JADE Windows & Doors in Batley (WF17) and our Scottish distribution hub in Glenrothes, Fife (KY6). We manufacture and supply timber garden buildings, log cabins, modular buildings, windows and doors to customers across the UK.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Machine Operative to join our Cabins team at our Thornbury site in Bradford.
You will be responsible for operating our Notching Machine, which plays an important role in the production of our log cabins. Full training will be provided by our experienced operators.
Your responsibilities will include:

Operating and programming the Notching Machine
- Loading timber into the machine safely and efficiently
- Checking finished components against the required quality standards
- Monitoring the machine and recognising when something does not sound, feel or operate correctly
- Responding quickly to potential problems to help prevent defects and downtime
- Working safely and following all operating procedures
- Working towards agreed production and quality targets
- Keeping the machine and surrounding work area clean and organised
- Reporting faults, maintenance requirements and quality concerns
- Supporting continuous improvement within the Cabins department

- Can work at pace while maintaining accuracy
- Pays close attention to detail and can recognise when something is not operating correctly
- Is willing to learn and follow machine operating procedures
- Communicates clearly and works well as part of a team
- Is flexible and willing to support other production activities when required
- Has previous machine-operating or manufacturing experience - desirable
You do not need a long list of qualifications. If you have practical experience, the right attitude and the willingness to learn, we would like to hear from you.
