Job title: Community Cafe Coordinator (maternity cover)
Reporting to: Management
Salary: £14 raising to £15 following successful probationary period
Term: 8 months initially
Hours: 25 hours per week.
Monday and Friday 9am to 2pm
Background
Methilhill Community Children’s Initiative (MCCI) is a voluntary community group and registered charity dedicated to providing clubs, activities and experiences to our local children, young people and their families.
In 2025 we are expanding our community services and will be opening a centre which will provide a community cafe, people’s pantry and groups, clubs and activities.
MCCI is managed by a voluntary board of community members.
Job Purpose
To coordinate MCCI community cafe ensuring the cafe runs smoothly. To engage with the customers and provide a warm and welcoming experience.
Main Duties
- Preparing food as required adhering to food standards regulations
- To ensure records are kept up to date and necessary checks are completed as required
- To complete risk assessments as required
- To be responsible for stock control
- To manage weekly budget
- Planning menu’s
- Ordering stock as required
- Serving customers
- Providing hot drinks
- To assist with the recruitment and supervision of volunteers
- Clearing and cleaning tables
- Washing and drying dishes
- Ensuring kitchen and serving areas are clean and tidy
- Engaging with users of the cafe
- Attend benefit checker training
- Sign-post to other agencies as required
- Promote other groups and services
- To gather evidence e.g. photographs and videos
- Liaise with management to ensure the smooth running of the cafe
- To work within the policies and procedures of MCCI

Pay: £14.00-£15.00 per hour
