Duties
- Welcome customers warmly and assist them with their purchases in a courteous manner
- Operate the cash register accurately, handling cash, card payments, and mobile transactions
- Provide excellent phone etiquette when answering enquiries or assisting customers remotely
- Upsell products and promote ongoing promotions to maximise sales opportunities
- Maintain organised checkout areas, ensuring all products are correctly priced and displayed
- Assist with merchandising tasks to ensure the store remains visually appealing and well-stocked
- Manage queues efficiently, ensuring prompt service during busy periods
- Handle customer complaints or concerns professionally, escalating issues when necessary
- Keep accurate records of transactions and maintain cleanliness of the checkout area
Requirements
- Fluency in English; proficiency in Spanish or additional languages is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse customers
- Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Good time management to ensure smooth flow during busy hours
- Knowledge of merchandising principles and sales techniques such as upselling
- Professional phone etiquette when dealing with customer calls or remote assistance requests
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Previous experience as a cashier or in retail sales is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided if needed
