Assistant Depot Manager – HGV Workshop
Location: Glasgow
Salary: Up to £45,000 (DOE)
Hours: Monday to Friday
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Assistant Depot Manager to join a well‑established, highly respected HGV workshop in Glasgow. This role is ideal for an experienced workshop controller ready to step up into depot management, or a current depot manager seeking a lighter, more balanced workload while still playing a key part in operational success.
The Role
You will support the Depot Manager in the day‑to‑day running of a busy commercial vehicle workshop, ensuring high standards of productivity, safety and customer service. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll oversee workflow, support technicians, manage job allocation and maintain smooth operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Workshop operations — Oversee daily workflow, job planning and technician coordination
- Customer communication — Provide updates, manage expectations and ensure excellent service
- Quality & compliance — Maintain safety standards, documentation accuracy and audit readiness
- Team leadership — Support technicians, encourage productivity and resolve operational issues
- Parts & job control — Assist with parts ordering, job card management and cost control
- Performance monitoring — Track workshop KPIs and support continuous improvement
What We’re Looking For
- Experience as a Workshop Controller, Assistant Manager, or Depot Manager within an HGV or commercial vehicle environment
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to lead, motivate and support workshop teams
- A proactive, calm and solutions‑focused approach
- Understanding of commercial workshop processes and customer expectations
Desirable
- Kerridge system knowledge (advantageous but not essential)
