Job Title: Caretaker – Part Time
Responsible to: Property Services Manager
Base: Unit 15, Joiners Square, ST1 3ER
(or Any other Brighter Futures scheme)
The postholder requires a full driving licence.
Purpose of the job:
The purpose of this role is to ensure Brighter Futures properties and premises remain clean, safe, and well-maintained. The postholder will provide regular cleaning services across housing and non‑housing sites, support the Property Services Team by carrying out basic building health and safety checks, assist with clearing and preparing void properties for re-let, and undertake minor remedial tasks to maintain the organisation’s assets.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure health and safety across responsible areas.
Ability to respond flexibly to changing external circumstances and internal priorities.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills to build effective positive relationships with colleagues.
Undertake any other reasonable duties and training that may be requested by the Property Services Manager
Travel as required by the Business.
Dusting, sweeping, vacuuming and mopping surfaces including living/working areas, bathrooms, kitchens etc.
Refilling and restocking cleaning supplies and toiletries (hand wash, toilet paper, paper towels)
Maintaining cleaning products and ordering new supplies when necessary
Emptying of internal waste bins.
Carrying out minor maintenance tasks such as replacing displaced toilet seats, unblocking of sinks and toilets.
Conducting deep clean as per service requirements.
Always maintaining COSHH compliance.
Assist the Property Services team with minor remedial works as well as void clean and clearances.
Maintaining external areas of Scheme’s, including but not limited to, Litter picking, Leaf collecting. Graffiti removal, Weeding, Gritting.
Safeguarding
- Understand both adult and child safeguarding
- Report safeguarding concerns.
- Be aware of your own professional boundaries (and that of your colleagues) and conduct and report issues of concern as appropriate to Team Leader or above.
Health and Safety
- Operate within internal and external health and safety requirements.
- Follow all business health and safety policy and procedures; ensure the correct reporting tools are used to accurately record issues, and they are circulated to the responsible person
- Seek advice and guidance from management if you are not clear on process
- Use personal safety devices as per business expectations
- Ensure any personal or business health and safety issues are reported swiftly, and matters are followed up to a conclusion

Hours of Work:
It is expected that the usual working pattern is 20 hours per week between Monday and Friday between the hours of 8am and 12pm.
The ability to work flexibly is required and essential to deliver operational results across our services some of which run 7days a week, 365 days a year.
