Job Overview
We are seeking a fully qualified Greenkeeper to oversee and maintain the pristine condition of our golf course or sports grounds. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in landscape maintenance and horticulture, ensuring the highest standards of turf health and aesthetic appeal. This role involves a combination of golf course construction experience, and some mechanical knowledge to deliver exceptional course management. The Greenkeeper will be responsible for implementing maintenance programmes, operating various power tools, and ensuring the safety and functionality of all equipment utilised on-site.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine landscape maintenance including mowing, edging, fertilising, aerating, and over seeding to promote healthy turf growth.
- Operate mechanical equipment such as excavators, specialised mowers, and irrigation systems to maintain the grounds efficiently.
- Use hand tools and power tools for detailed landscaping tasks, including trimming shrubs, planting, and soil preparation.
- Perform regular inspections of irrigation systems to identify faults and carry out repairs or adjustments as needed.
- Maintain equipment through routine servicing and repairs to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist with construction projects related to course improvements or ground enhancements, applying construction experience where necessary.
- Monitor weather conditions and adapt maintenance schedules accordingly to preserve ground quality.
- Ensure all grounds work complies with health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe environment for staff and visitors.
Skills
- Proven experience in landscape maintenance of golf courses with a strong understanding of turf management.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to operating greens machinery and irrigation systems.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment.
- Experience with construction activities related to ground development or improvements.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance on grounds keeping machinery and equipment.
- Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail in maintaining high standards of presentation.
- Good physical fitness with the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to troubleshoot mechanical issues or landscape challenges efficiently.
Desirable
- Spraying qualification
- Chainsaw qualification.

Pay: £28,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
