We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer / Technician to join our team on a self-employed basis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for attending responsive call-outs, diagnostic troubleshooting, servicing, maintenance and repairs across plumbing, gas, HVAC, air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
This is a varied role suited to a skilled engineer who can work independently, respond professionally to emergency call-outs, and deliver high-quality work across both commercial and residential environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend responsive and emergency call-outs.
- Diagnose faults and carry out effective troubleshooting.
- Maintain, service and repair plumbing systems and networks.
- Install, service and repair gas appliances and systems.
- Carry out maintenance and repairs on HVAC, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with relevant UK regulations and industry standards.
- Provide professional customer service when dealing with clients.
- Complete accurate job reports and maintenance records.
- Work independently while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
- Ensure clients' facilities remain safe, operational and compliant.
Requirements
- Gas Safe Registration – essential.
- F-Gas Certification – essential.
- Relevant NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent trade qualifications.
- Minimum 5 years' relevant hands-on experience.
- Valid UK Driving Licence.
- CSCS Card.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing, gas and HVAC systems.
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and respond effectively to urgent call-outs.
- Professional approach with good communication and customer service skills.
