Are you passionate about respectful infant care?
Our unique and beautiful baby provision with nine places for under-twos is built around Pikler methodology and grounded in infant mental health. We’re looking for an experienced Infant Care Lead to head it up.
You’ll work within a small, spcialist team delivering slow, responsive, relationship-first care: supporting babies’ physical development at their own pace, building secure attachments, and working closely with families through one of the most sensitive periods of a child’s life.
What you’d be paid, and why.
Our innovative Professional Practice Pay model is built toward professionalising the sector. We don’t pay by the hour. Your pay is a base wage, on your full contracted hours - plus a bonus for every baby you hold as their named Key Person. We view infant care as specialist provision, where a genuine attachment relationship is the most demanding version of this work and the sector has never paid for it properly.
As a lead practitioner for this provision, you'll work closely with our parent-infant relationship specialist practitioner.
What you’ll need
- Level 3 Early Years or above, with infant/baby room experience
- Two years’ experience, including leading or working in a Pikler, RIE or similar relationship-based infant setting
- A strong grasp of attachment theory, co-regulation and unhurried physical development
- Confidence holding Ofsted standards and ratios for an under-2s provision
- A calm and nurturing presence, and strong observation skills
- Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding, or the willingness to complete both
What we offer
- 28 days’ leave including bank holidays and closure days
- Supervision and reflection time — properly protected, not squeezed in
- Funded mandatory training, CPD, mentorship and our University of Worcester partnership
- Work within a team that is part of a DfE Early Years Stronger Practice Hub
- Family Club wellness access
- Workplace pension
- A room to build, and days spent in woodland and meadow
Monday to Friday, 30 hours
The work is physical and outdoors: kneeling, lifting, carrying young children, and all weathers.
Safer recruitment. We are committed to safeguarding every child in our care. All applicants must undergo enhanced DBS screening and register with the Update Service, provide references from previous employers, and evidence their right to work in the UK. All our posts are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, so all convictions and cautions — including those regarded as ‘spent’ — must be declared. Applicants must confirm they are not barred or disqualified from working with children and do not live with anyone who is. We are an equal opportunities employer, and we’ll make reasonable adjustments at any stage — just tell us what you need.
