Role Overview
We are looking for a specific person for a hybrid role of Daycare Assistant / Dog Groomer to join our team. This is a varied role, with approximately 75% of time spent in the grooming parlour and the remaining time supporting our busy daycare.
You will be responsible for assisting with grooming services while also helping to supervise and care for dogs in a group daycare setting at the beginning and end of your shift.
Key Responsibilities
- All things grooming: including bathing, drying, brushing, hand stripping and scissor-work
- Maintain a clean, organised grooming environment
- Take bookings and schedule grooming appointments
- Support the head-groomer with administration tasks in the parlour
- Supervise and interact with dogs in a group daycare setting
- Monitor behaviour and manage group dynamics appropriately
- Clean and maintain all areas to a high standard
- Assist with feeding, watering, and general care routines
- Communicate effectively with team members and report any concerns
Requirements
- A genuine passion for working with dogs
- Confidence around large groups of dogs
- Knowledge of dog behaviour and body language
- Calm, confident, and patient handling skills
- Willingness to learn grooming techniques
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Reliability and a positive work ethic
Preferred Qualifications
- Level 3 grooming qualified (or working towards one )
- Previous experience in dog grooming or a strong interest in pursuing grooming
- Experience working with animals (daycare, kennels, or similar
