An exciting opportunity has arisen for one Permanent Disrepair Supervisor and one Fixed-Term (12-month) or Internal Secondment Disrepair Supervisor within Bristol City Council's Housing & Landlord Services Responsive Repairs (Disrepair) Team.
The Responsive Repairs (Disrepair) Team plays a vital role in ensuring that housing condition claims are effectively managed and resolved, delivering high-quality outcomes for our residents whilst maintaining compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
The role involves the supervision and development of a team of Disrepair Surveyors, Senior Business Support Officers, and contractors delivering responsive repairs and remedial works across Bristol City Council's housing stock. You will be responsible for ensuring disrepair claims are investigated and managed effectively, contractor performance is monitored, and repairs are delivered to the required quality, timescale, and customer satisfaction standards.
Working alongside the Responsive Repairs Manager (Disrepair), you will help determine how individual cases should be progressed, including agreeing legal instructions and the approach to challenging housing condition claims where appropriate, to resolve disputes and uphold legal and regulatory standards.
You may act as a professional witness in disrepair claims as required, providing technical expertise and evidence to support the Council's position.
You will need proven technical knowledge and relevant qualifications/experience within a building, surveying, or construction-related discipline, together with experience of supervising and developing technical staff and monitoring contractor performance. You must demonstrate strong leadership and people management skills, excellent organisational abilities and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
Excellent communication skills are essential, with the ability to build positive relationships, manage challenging conversations professionally, and produce clear and accurate reports.

For permanent Bristol City Council employees, this post will be a secondment.
For employees who are currently on a fixed term contract with Bristol City Council, the secondment must not extend beyond the end of the fixed term period to ensure there is a substantive post to return to.
