Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and compassionate Registered Home Manager to oversee operations of our care home.
To be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day running of the Home on a 24-hour basis.
· To ensure all aspects of the management of the Home meet the requirements of the Health and Social Care Act 2008, the Care Act 2014, the Care Quality Commission, all other relevant legislative requirements and the Organisation’s policies and procedures.
3. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
Essential Qualifications:
· Relevant professional qualification, for example Registered Nurse with current NMC registration or Registered Social Worker, with a minimum of two years’ post-registration experience.
And/or:
· Diploma Level 5 in Health and Social Care (Leadership and Management) or Registered Managers Award with NVQ Level 4 in Care or equivalent
· Experience in a managerial post, preferably working with people with learning disabilities.
· Knowledge of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and Care Act 2014.
· Understanding of the Skills for Care Certificate.
· Knowledge of the Department for Work and Pensions benefits system.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Good understanding of budgeting and finance controls.
· Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 and able to operate service-specific software.
· Full UK driving licence.
4. Key Responsibilities
a) To be responsible for the total management of the Home.
b) Embrace the philosophy of the Organisation, ensuring that those we support are enabled to participate fully in decisions affecting their lives and that person-centred planning is embedded in practice. Ensure all options are explored to support the decisions and choices of those we support, including activities outside their home environment.
c) To have a committed involvement in the Organisation’s training strategy, including participation by way of presentations to staff groups on a range of subjects.
d) Ensure staff training and development needs are met through Personal Development Plans and the use of appropriate tools to ensure staff are aware of, and complete, the training and development required of them.
e) Create and maintain a comfortable and safe environment within the Home by monitoring standards of hygiene and cleanliness, ensuring the fabric of the building is maintained and staff are aware of health, safety and fire regulations.
f) Create clear and effective lines of communication and working relationships within the Home and with families, other managers, staff across the Organisation, other professionals and agencies involved in the care of those we support.
g) Attend meetings where appropriate.
h) Maintain a safe staffing level at all times by monitoring duty rotas, annual leave and sickness absence.
i) Accept responsibility for the cost-effective management of the budget allocated to the Home and for the appropriate management of money belonging to those we support, including maintenance of financial procedures that comply with the Organisation’s financial regulations.
j) Investigate any incidents, accidents or complaints that arise, keeping the Quality Assurance Manager, Human Resources Manager and Chief Executive advised of all developments and any remedial action taken.
k) Assist in ensuring a consistent management approach across the Organisation through the implementation and monitoring of all Organisation policies and procedures, including those relating to quality assurance.
l) Create a vibrant, effective and friendly staff culture by maintaining and encouraging professional relationships with line managers, peer groups and staff team members.
m) Keep abreast of new and developing services in the fields of learning disabilities and mental health to ensure personal professional competence and that of the management team within the Home is maintained, including attendance at networking forums.
Pay: £34,221.32 per year
