We are expanding and are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Garden Nursery Supervisor to join our small family-owned garden nursery in Letchworth.
The Garden Nursery Supervisor will support the day-to-day operation of the garden centre, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining high standards throughout the nursery, and supervising team members. This role requires strong communication skills, horticultural knowledge, and a proactive approach to creating an attractive and welcoming retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Working 4 days a week with occasional Saturdays.
- Supervise and support garden centre staff on a daily basis.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Provide expert advice on plants, gardening products, and seasonal items.
- Handle customer enquiries, complaints, and feedback professionally.
- Promote a positive shopping experience for all customers.
- Maintain attractive product displays and seasonal promotions.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and replenishment.
- Ensure pricing and promotional information is accurate and up to date.
- Oversee the care and maintenance of plants, ensuring they are healthy and well presented.
- Monitor and action watering schedules, plant health, and stock rotation.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures.
- Support stock control, deliveries, and merchandising activities.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Previous retail supervisory or leadership experience.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of plants, gardening products, or horticulture.
Desirable
- Horticultural qualification or relevant industry experience.
- Experience working within a garden centre, nursery, or horticultural environment.
