Behaviour & Attendance Lead
Location: Edgewood School
Reporting to: Deputy Headteacher
Salary: Grade 6 Lead TA / HLTA (approx. £25,041.60 FTE)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, term time only (38 weeks plus 1 INSET week)

Edgewood School is looking for a passionate, resilient and proactive Behaviour & Attendance Lead to play a key role in supporting our young people with complex needs. This is a unique opportunity to shape a trauma-informed, relational approach to behaviour while improving staff confidence, student safety and engagement.
About the Role
As Behaviour & Attendance Lead, you will act as a lead practitioner for behaviour and regulation, supporting both staff and students to achieve positive outcomes. You will balance hands-on incident support with strategic, preventative work, ensuring consistent and safe practice across the school.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Leading behaviour support during high-risk incidents and promoting de-escalation strategies
- Coordinating post-incident reviews and analysing behaviour data to reduce risk
- Supporting staff to develop and implement effective behaviour plans and risk assessments
- Delivering training and coaching, including becoming a NAPPI (Non Abusive, Psychological and Physical Information) Trainer
- Providing targeted interventions to improve pupil attendance
- Working closely with safeguarding teams and contributing to multi-agency work
- Supporting pupils directly to develop regulation and engagement skills
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking someone who:
- Has experience working with pupils with complex SEND and challenging behaviour
- Understands trauma-informed practice and behaviour regulation
- Is calm, confident and decisive in high-pressure situations
- Can analyse behaviour patterns and implement effective preventative strategies
- Has excellent communication, coaching and record-keeping skills
- Can influence, support and develop staff practice
Qualifications:
- Relevant qualification in education, SEND or behaviour (e.g. HLTA or equivalent experience)
- NAPPI Trainer qualification (or willingness to achieve upon appointment)
- Restrictive Physical Intervention experience is desirable
