Behaviour Learning Support Assistant (Diverse Needs & Behaviour Support)
Location: St Elizabeth’s Centre, Much Hadham, Hertfordshire
(Just 10 minutes from Bishop’s Stortford and Harlow)
Contract: Term-time only (Monday to Friday, 36 weeks per year)
Salary: £22,727 (£14.14 per hour)

About the Role
This is not a typical classroom support role.
As a Specialist Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with a small number of pupils, often on a 2:1 basis, providing consistent, structured support to help them engage in learning and develop independence.
You’ll support learners who may experience challenges with communication, emotional regulation, and behaviour, requiring a calm, patient, and proactive approach.
Working alongside teachers, therapists, and a wider multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in creating a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment where every pupil can succeed.
What you’ll be doing

Providing dedicated 2:1 support to pupils throughout the school day

Supporting learners to engage in education, build confidence and develop independence.

Using agreed strategies to support emotional regulation and behaviour

Helping to maintain a calm, structured, and predictable environment
-
Supporting transitions between activities and throughout the day

Working closely with teachers and therapists to deliver tailored support

Providing personal care where required, with dignity and respect.

Contributing to a team that celebrates progress — big and small.
What this role involves (important to know)
This role includes supporting pupils who may:

Find communication and engagement challenging.

Experience difficulties with emotional regulation.

Require consistent, structured, and sometimes intensive support.
You’ll need to be resilient, calm under pressure, and confident in supporting behaviour in a safe and positive way — full training will be provided.
