General Manager – Family-Run Hotel, Lake District

We are a small, family-run hotel with 11 letting rooms & a studio, seeking an experienced General Manager to oversee day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all hotel operations, ensuring smooth day-to-day running
- Lead, motivate, and manage staff, including creating rotas and overseeing performance
- Collaborate closely with the on-site owner on strategy and business decisions
- Drive sales, marketing, and guest experience initiatives
- Maintain high standards of customer service and hospitality
- Oversee housekeeping, maintenance, and front-of-house operations
- Monitor budgets, costs, and financial performance
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing regulations
- Handle guest feedback, complaints, and enquiries professionally
- Implement and review operational policies and procedures to improve efficiency
What We Require:
- Proven experience in hotel or hospitality management, preferably in small or boutique hotels
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff
- Excellent organisational skills, including rota and operational planning
- Hands-on approach with attention to detail and high standards of customer service
- Experience driving sales, marketing, and guest experience initiatives
- Financial acumen, including budget management and cost control
- Ability to work closely with the owner and make operational decisions
- Full UK driving license
- Flexible, proactive, and able to thrive in a small, family-run environment

Pay: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
