Job Title: School Cook
Location: Workington
Working Hours: 8:30am - 2pm, Monday - Friday (term-time only)
Start Date: Tuesday 1st September

Pay Rate: £14.25 - £17.35 per hour
We are looking for a passionate school chef to join one of our lovely schools in Workington. This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional who enjoys working in a school environment and is passionate about preparing nutritious, fresh and enjoyable meals for young people.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving meals, maintaining high standards of food hygiene and safety, ensuring the kitchen is kept clean and organised.
Job Description:
- Preparing and Cooking fresh nutritious meals for pupils and staff.
- Planning and preparing menus in line with dietary requirements and nutritional standards.
- Catering for allergies and specific dietary requirements.
- Maintaining excellent standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen safety.
- Ensuring all food is stored and prepared safely.
- Maintaining accurate food safety records.
- Working effectively as part of a team.
- Creating a welcome and positive mealtime environment for pupils.
Must Have:
- Professional experience working as a chef or in a catering environment.
- Experience preparing and cooking meals to a high standard.
- Knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety procedures and allergen requirements.
- A valid enhanced DBS for the Child Workforce on the Update Service.
- RTW in the UK.
- A reliable, professional and positive approach to working with young people.
Desirable:
- Previous experience working within a school, PRU, college or other educational setting.
- Catering qualification (or relevant).
- Experience catering for children and young people.
- Knowledge of nutritional requirements and special dietary needs.
