Skill Connections is building something new in Liverpool, and we are looking for a Sales and Marketing Assistant to join us at the very start of that journey. Having recently expanded from St Neots, we are establishing our presence across Liverpool and the wider Merseyside area, and this is a rare chance to become a recognised member of a growing team from day one. You will have early visibility across the business, the space to contribute your own ideas and the opportunity to take on greater responsibility as the Liverpool operation develops.
Joining at this stage means your work genuinely matters. Rather than slotting into an established structure, you will help shape how we connect with local businesses, build our reputation across Merseyside and grow our client base. It is an opportunity to develop commercially, learn how a sales and marketing operation is built from the ground up and play a real part in a company's expansion into a new city.
About the opportunity
Skill Connections provides outsourced HR, recruitment and workforce support services to businesses. Our services include recruitment and staffing support, HR outsourcing and advisory, payroll and compliance management, workforce planning and strategic HR consultancy. This is primarily a business to business sales and marketing role. You will be based at our Liverpool L3 office, near Baltic Market in the Baltic Triangle, and will engage with prospective and existing business clients through telephone conversations, email, online enquiries and scheduled meetings. You may also attend appropriate networking events, local business meetings and client visits across Liverpool and Merseyside when required. As a Sales and Marketing Assistant, you will support customer engagement, local market development, campaign delivery, lead management and the ongoing growth of the Liverpool operation. This role suits someone with a genuine interest in sales, marketing, customer engagement and business development. Previous experience is beneficial but not essential, as structured training will be provided.
What you will be doing
- Support the launch and continued growth of the Liverpool operation by developing relationships with local business clients and identifying new opportunities.
- Research the Liverpool and wider Merseyside market to find potential clients, relevant events, partnerships and areas for growth.
- Build relationships with prospective business clients through telephone calls, email, online enquiries, scheduled meetings and local networking activity.
- Support sales and marketing campaigns by communicating campaign messages and helping deliver local client acquisition activity.
- Qualify enquiries and maintain accurate CRM records covering client conversations, appointments, follow ups and outcomes.
- Track enquiries, client feedback, conversions and sales activity, and share useful findings with management.
- Work alongside colleagues in Liverpool and St Neots to maintain consistent branding, service and sales processes.
What we are looking for
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A genuine interest in sales, marketing and business development.
- Good organisation and the ability to manage follow ups and shifting priorities.
- A proactive approach and a willingness to contribute ideas.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues across different locations.
- Previous experience in sales, marketing, customer service, retail, hospitality or another customer facing role is beneficial but not essential.
Training and development
You will receive structured training covering sales conversations, customer engagement, marketing campaign delivery, lead qualification, CRM management, commercial awareness and local market development. Development is based on performance and linked to demonstrated ability, giving you a clear sense of how your progress connects to your contribution.
Salary and benefits
- Starting salary from £26,500 per year
- Full time, permanent employment
- Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm
- Optional paid Saturday opportunities for additional experience, development and earnings (not a contractual requirement)
- Free on site parking
- Fuel or travel allowance, subject to company policy
- Structured sales and marketing training
- Early involvement in the Liverpool expansion and greater exposure to the development of a new operation
- Regular company events and team activities
- Potential hybrid working after successful completion of the three month probation period, depending on performance, role requirements and business needs
- A Baltic Triangle base surrounded by independent restaurants, bars and social venues, ideal for grabbing food or a drink with colleagues after work
The role is based on site for the first three months.
