Conveyancing Assistant
Location: Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne

SJC Partners is recruiting on behalf of an established law firm in Newcastle seeking a Conveyancing Assistant to join its busy residential property team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with conveyancing experience who is organised, client-focused and keen to develop their career within a supportive legal environment.
Working closely with conveyancers and other members of the property team, you will provide administrative and legal support across a varied caseload of residential conveyancing transactions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting conveyancers with sales, purchases, remortgages and transfers of equity
- Opening new files and completing initial compliance checks
- Requesting searches and relevant property documentation
- Preparing correspondence and standard legal documents
- Liaising with clients, estate agents, lenders and other solicitors
- Providing clients with regular updates on the progress of their transactions
- Managing incoming telephone calls and emails
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date files
- Using the firm’s case management system
- Assisting with exchange, completion and post-completion tasks
- Providing general administrative support to the conveyancing team
About you:
- Previous experience in a conveyancing or legal assistant role
- An understanding of the residential conveyancing process
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- A professional and confident telephone manner
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
- A proactive and flexible approach to work
- Strong IT skills and confidence using case management systems
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
