JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible to: Head of Service: Counselling and Therapy
Location: Opportunities available in Nottingham City Centre and surrounding boroughs, and in North Nottinghamshire/Mansfield and surrounding areas.
Term: Full and part-time hours available. Fixed term contracts of various lengths, with the possibility to extend.
Location: Across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, working within the community, at home or within public services.
Hours: Hours/days of work to be discussed at interview.
Benefits: 28 days annual leave, plus bank holidays and 1 extra day per year of service up to 5 days, pro rated. Employee pension contribution of 6%. Employee sick leave and family leave benefits.
Salary: £29,000 to £30,000 pro rata, project dependent
Role description: This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at Base 51, the charity supporting young people’s wellbeing in Nottinghamshire.
As part of our counselling and therapeutic services offer, you will work with young people referred to Base51 via one of a number of contracts or partner organisations. For example, we currently provide support to young people attending alternative provision education in and around Nottingham, deliver counselling and support via social prescribing services in GP surgeries and counselling to young people in various locations across Nottinghamshire who are not in education or work. Typically, you will carry out assessments of mental health needs and deliver one-to-one and group counselling. You will be comfortable working independently or as part of a team of professionals to support young people and safeguarding teams to ensure safe, ethical, and appropriate support. This role may require travel across Nottingham city and county.
The successful applicant will be a qualified counsellor (minimum level 4 diploma) with accreditation (or working towards) from a recognised governing body (such as BACP/NCS etc.) Alternatively, you will be a qualified play, art, music therapist specialising in working with young people and will be accredited by HCPC, BAAT or equivalent professional body.
Ideally you will have experience working within schools or with young people and have a flexible, creative approach to counselling/ therapy, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all.
You will receive full support and supervision from Base 51.
We are also happy to consider applications from qualified counselling supervisors, with additional renumeration to be discussed at interview.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Qualified counsellor with accreditation (or working towards) from a recognised governing body.
- or Qualified play, art, music therapist with accreditation (or working towards) from a recognised governing body
- Minimum level 4 diploma in counselling.
- Ideally experience working with young people.
- Driving licence and access to a car would be an advantage.
