About the Role
J Mould (Reading) is looking for an experienced Car & Van Mechanic to join our busy workshop. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of company cars and light commercial vehicles, ensuring they remain safe, reliable and compliant.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing and maintenance on cars and vans.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
- Complete MOT preparation and carry out repairs as required.
- Perform brake, clutch, suspension, steering and engine repairs.
- Use diagnostic equipment to identify faults efficiently.
- Maintain accurate service records and job sheets.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard while following health and safety procedures.
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and assembly techniques to complete repairs efficiently.
- Assist with vehicle diagnostics using specialised equipment to pinpoint faults quickly.
- Support ongoing maintenance schedules to prevent future issues and ensure vehicle safety standards are met.
Requirements
- Proven experience for at least 3-4 years as a car and van mechanic.
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent) preferred.
- Good diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
