We are looking for a friendly, confident and reliable Part-Time Walk Leader to join our team at Wetley Moor Alpacas.
This is a hands-on role working with both our animals and members of the public, so we are looking for someone who is equally comfortable handling animals, leading groups and taking responsibility when things don’t quite go to plan!
Hours
Saturdays: 10am–3pm – availability every Saturday is essential.
Additional shifts may be available to provide holiday cover and during our busy seasonal events, particularly throughout October and December.
The Role
As a Walk Leader, you will help ensure our alpaca and donkey experiences run safely, smoothly and enjoyably for our visitors.
Responsibilities will include:
- Leading alpaca and donkey walks and other animal experiences with members of the public
- Welcoming visitors and providing friendly, engaging customer service
- Giving safety briefings and instructions before and during experiences
- Overseeing and directing our team of volunteers during shifts
- Ensuring the health, welfare and safety of our animals throughout the day
- Preparing animals and equipment for experiences
- Monitoring visitor and animal behaviour and stepping in where necessary
- Dealing confidently and calmly with unexpected situations, customer concerns or incidents
- Helping to maintain a safe, tidy and professional environment around the farm
About You
We are looking for someone who is confident, practical and able to take the lead.
Essential:
- Previous experience working with animals
- Previous experience in a customer-facing/customer service role
- Confident communicating with groups of adults and children
- Able to supervise and give clear direction to volunteers
- Calm and capable when dealing with problems or high-pressure situations
- Reliable, responsible and comfortable using initiative
- Happy working outdoors in all weathers
- Physically capable of walking and working around a farm environment
- Available to work Saturdays from 10am–3pm
Experience with alpacas, equines or livestock would be beneficial, but specific training on our animals and experiences can be provided.
