What You Can Expect in This Role
As a Mental Health Care Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting patients during transport, ensuring their safety, comfort, and wellbeing. You’ll also be responsible for driving the ambulance and working closely with healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
- Transport patients safely, including individuals in crisis or detained under the Mental Health Act.
- Build trust through active listening and compassionate communication.
- Follow care plans, risk assessments, and safety protocols.
- Use de‑escalation techniques to support patients in distress while maintaining dignity.
- Record patient information accurately (digital or paper).
- Drive and maintain company vehicles to a high standard.
- Keep vehicles clean, stocked, and ready for use.
- Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional care.
We’re Looking for People Who Are
- Compassionate, patient‑focused, and committed to dignity and respect.
- Calm and confident in challenging or high‑pressure situations.
- Strong communicators with excellent listening skills.
- Experienced in managing stress, aggression, or violence.
- Knowledgeable about infection prevention and control.
- Experienced in health or social care (mental health or patient transport desirable but not essential).
- Skilled in delivering person‑centred care to vulnerable individuals.
